1. Jackson’s Bar

26 kilo meters away towards northern east of Havelock island the reef lies in a rectangular shape in the middle of the ocean. The reef starts at 18 meters and goes down to 39 meters. The top flat surface of the reef is the resting point of countless Sting rays and a large school of Barracuda is very often seen roaming around just below the surface while descending. Huge schools of different snappers such as five line yellow snappers, bigeye snappers, white snappers unite together at the different corners of the reef. You can see migrating of long fin banner fish and Moris idols occasionally.

One should carry U/V light to see the real colour of the iconic soft coral varieties as the depth absorb sunlight and everything appears bluish after 20 meters. You should dive at-least twice to cover the full reef satisfactorily at Jacksons Bar, since the scuba diving in Andaman price is reasonably cheaper than anywhere else in the world, that lets you enjoy budget friendly diving holidays here. Mild current and thermos line are experienced very frequently but there are places to hide to avoid the current and unusual bad visibility.

2.Johnny’s Gorge

The most popular round shaped uneven reef is located 24 kilo meters away from Havelock island and we can reach you there within an hour by our speed boat easily. The reef starts at 20 meters and the deepest point is around 31 meters. The sandy patch is where the magic begins of the white tip and black tip reef sharks come in front of you to say Hello.

The Giant Moray Eels, Marbled Stingrays and Giant Groupers can be seen inhabiting this reef. You can spot Eagle rays and Devil rays very often swimming away just beside or beneath you. Giant Whale shark, Manta ray and Dolphins are occasionally seen at this place during scuba diving in Havelock island. There are many more to see but i should keep them surprise for you. Come and explore them on your own.

3.Dickson’s Pinnacles

There are three outstanding volcanic coral reef structures covered with millions of colourful soft corals. The reef is located 26 kilo meters away in the open sea towards eastern side of Havelock Island. You can reach there within an hour time using our speed boats. We strongly recommend to do double dive at Dickson’s Pinnacles on the same day so that you can cover most of the reefs satisfactorily.

The shallowest part of the reef is 17.2 meters, where brilliantly colourful Peacock Mantis shrimp and Durban Dancing shrimp attract your eyes. The deepest point is more than 35 meters, where the big Napoleon Rashes amaze you with their appearance. While descending and ascending you will encounter huge school of Barracudas and Trevallies. Dickson’s Pinnacles are considered as a cleaning station and fish can commonly be seen in the crevices of the reef getting cleaned up by a variety of shrimp.

4.Broken Ledge

Broken Ledge can be best described as an elliptically shaped reef which seems like a space ship has crash landed under the sea and the reef is 23 kilo meters away towards northern east of Havelock Island. We can reach you there within 45 minutes journey by our boat.

There are crevices under the reef that house a variety of sea creatures. While Garden Eels, Stingrays and Mantis Shrimps can be seen in the sand patch around the reef, The reef top at 16 meters is a good spot to hover at and look out for Trevallies on a hunt. Turtles and sea snakes are very common to spot at this site. A huge amount of Glass fish can be seen occasionally and it appears like a cloud in the sky.

5. White House Rock

The one and only coral garden brimming with fish life is located far southern west of Havelock. White House Rock, is named after the white fan corals that cover almost 60 % of this underwater hill-like reef structure. The reef does have colourful hard coral such as Stag horn, Open Brain, Mushroom and Plate coral. At White House Rock, commonly and very often sightings include Turtles, Octopus, large schools Barracudas, Trevallies, Giant yellow fin Groupers.

A lot of macro sightings can be discovered too if you pay your full attention looking for them in between the hard corals as well as on the sandy patches. The reef starts at 8 meters and is well suited for Open Water certified divers as well as for Advanced divers. Decent buoyancy is advised because this reef is the home to a lot of beautiful Lion fish, Scorpion fish and Stone fish as they can inject venom on their self defence and cause you pain.

The best time to visit Andaman for scuba diving is between the beginning of October till the end of May. Since the Andaman Islands come under tropical rain forest zone, It rains from the beginning of June till the end of September a lot and this time period is considered monsoon here. The best suited time for deep diving at the above described dive site would be mid February till end of April ( considered as dry season ), because the Andaman sea becomes the calmest and nicest during this time period. Ideally the dry season is the best time for fun diving in the Andaman Islands.
Thank you so much. We hope you enjoyed reading and will be enjoying your scuba diving days with us soon. The next blog will be coming about the scuba diving speciality courses soon. Stay tuned.
